Depending on your location, you can run a paper route in the morning or in the afternoon.
As the sun rises, you bike to the depot in your neighborhood. This is the place where you and all the other newspaper carriers pick up the papers. As a newspaper carrier, you are responsible for delivering the newspapers to subscribers on time.
At the start of your delivery adventure, you receive a handy bike bag and a device with the Delivery App, which gives you immediate digital access to all your delivery routes as soon as you log in on the device. It functions like a digital route list where you can find the addresses of the subscribers in your delivery area.
At the depot, you then load the newspapers into your bike bag, grab your route map, and start your delivery round. By 07:00 AM, you have provided your entire neighborhood with the latest news and a touch of cheerfulness, and you have already completed your daily fitness routine. Ready for a productive day!
A morning paper route runs six days a week. From Monday to Friday before 07:00 AM and on Saturday before 09:00 AM. Enjoy an extra hour of rest!

To deliver newspapers, you must be at least 15 years old. Are you almost 15? Then we can always put you on the waiting list so that you can be approached by a depotholder as soon as you turn 15 and a newspaper route in your area is available. Are you not 15 years old yet and still want to work as a deliverer? Then delivering leaflets, brochures, flyers, advertisements, or printed matter may be something for you. With this, you distribute door-to-door and/or addressed printed matter in your own area. Often, you deliver this together in a package with weekly newspapers. Delivery jobs can be found, for example, at Spotta, Rodi Media, Axender, or Bezorgers.frl. As a Spotta deliverer, for example, you will get your own area with fixed addresses, just like a newspaper deliverer. However, delivering a leaflet district typically takes about 2 to 3 hours, and you can be much faster as a newspaper delivery person!
In addition to the age to start, the most important difference is that you have various options as a newspaper deliverer. Such as delivering the newspaper six times a week, morning newspaper, or Saturday newspaper. This depends on the newspaper area that will be assigned to you.
Nowadays you also see flash delivery couriers at work in some cities. These are couriers who deliver supermarket products to their customers by bicycle or scooter in a very short time. Companies such as Gorillas, Getir, Flink, and Crisp promise that the order will be delivered to the customer within 10 to 15 minutes.
As a flash courier, you deliver to a different address in a flash each time, which requires you to constantly be ready to deliver a new order within a certain time frame and to constantly travel from place to place. This can be quite stressful. With a newspaper route, you always have the same route with the same addresses, so you don't have to experience the constant stress of quickly cycling back and forth.
In addition to delivering newspapers, there are also jobs for delivering meals such as pizzas from Domino's and New York Pizza, sushi, fries from a local snack bar or cafeteria. This is often done by bicycle or scooter, and sometimes by car. Think of companies like Thuisbezorgd and Uber Eats that employ drivers to quickly deliver hot meals to customers. Just like with flash couriers, the addresses vary, and there is no fixed route and rhythm as with newspaper delivery.
There are also differences in working hours. Newspapers are delivered in the morning. For door-to-door, weekly newspapers, and flyers, this is often in the afternoon or evening. Flash couriers are often available all day, while meal delivery drivers mainly work in the evening. Make sure to check with each company what the working hours are and choose what suits you best. As a newspaper deliverer, you work in the morning, leaving the rest of the day for other activities such as another job, study, friends, and/or hobbies.
Some delivery jobs also have waiting times. This means you wait at a specific location until an order is placed for you to deliver. With flyer and newspaper delivery, the addresses you can deliver to are predetermined, so you don't have any waiting times in between. So, if you deliver newspapers quickly, you earn more in less time.
